SOMINA FOMBO
Project Director
SOMINA aka Dr Mena Fombo is co founder of Blak Wave Productions, a director and producer of tv and film, particularly passionate about telling real stories that challenge perspective and centre women, queer black and poc communities and more widely sports.
Mena is also a global speaker and activist with a brilliant TEDx Talk: No you Cannot Touch My Hair. She is the founder of Black Girl Convention and Co founder of Bristol African Caribbean Culture space. She is an inclusion consultant, a coach and facilitator with over over 15 years experience in running inspirational creative retreats.
She has a background in running a creative digital agency where she exec produced content for digital, BBC and Channel 4. She is the writer and director of the BBC Arts short Home Carnival Queen. She has featured on the BME Powerlist, in 2019 she was voted Bristol woman of the year in B24/7, and in 2020 she became the cities international ambassador. Her latest film The Glorious Ones uncovers seven generations of glorious queer experiences from black British women and non binary people, relase winter 2021.

Tshelane Reid
Communications Officer
Tshelane Reid is a creative professional with a passion for visual storytelling, currently studying at the NFTS. They’re leveraging access to a network of highly skilled filmmakers at the UK's best film school alongside a 4-year career within traditional and digital media, advising global organisations on how to elevate their brands stories, in order to develop their filmmaking career.
Their accolades include being commissioned to write an audio play and being the creative director and co-producer of an anthology storytelling podcast and YouTube channel, which platforms and advocates for marginalised creatives.
